Between the upload and the report, a specific pipeline turns pixels into numbers. Here's what it genuinely measures, tier by tier.
The measurements above are genuine. These are the limits that come with getting them from one ordinary camera instead of a lab.
You upload a video of your golf swing and FlyAway's AI analyzes your biomechanics using pose detection: swing phases, tempo, and ball flight. It automatically detects technical faults and gives you an overall swing score.
A short video of your full swing, filmed from the side (down-the-line or face-on), is enough for the AI to analyze your biomechanics accurately.

Yes, FlyAway keeps a complete history of all your swing analyses so you can track how your technique improves over time.
It depends on what's being measured. Timing data — tempo, phase durations — is reliable to within a frame or two, roughly 15 to 30 milliseconds at 60fps. Large body rotations, like shoulder and hip turn, are reasonably reliable and useful for tracking change over time. Clubface angle, attack angle, and anything about the ball are estimated from limited visual information rather than measured directly, so treat them as indicative. Ball-flight tendency — slice, fade, straight, draw, hook — runs at roughly 75% accuracy on labelled swings and is reported with a confidence level rather than as a hard number.
No. Any recent smartphone is enough — the analysis relies on pose estimation from ordinary video, not sensors or markers. A launch monitor measures club and ball data with instrument-grade precision but tells you nothing about your body; a dedicated 3D system resolves body positions more precisely than a single camera. Neither is required to get a swing report, but each does one thing better than a phone alone.
Film face-on (perpendicular to your target line) or down-the-line (behind you, along the target line) — face-on reveals the most faults if you can only film one. Hold the phone at hand height, step back far enough to keep your whole body and the club in frame through the finish, shoot at 60fps or better, and wear fitted clothing against a contrasting background. Loose or dark clothing blurs the outline pose detection depends on, and anything below 60fps lets the moment of impact fall between frames.
No, and it isn't trying to. AI is consistent, available anytime, and measures timing more precisely than a human eye ever will. A human coach sees the cause behind a fault rather than the fault itself — whether a steep downswing comes from your grip, your setup, your mobility or an old injury — and can put their hands on your posture. The two are complementary: use AI to check whether a change is holding, and a coach to decide what to work on and why.
